ICE-BREAKER QUESTION:
What goes into your favorite breakfast?
SUMMARY
Today we will briefly discuss what the Bible says about how to become God's Child. Then we will go through 10 of God's Promises for His Children.
We will go over mostly leading questions that will help us understand what the Bible says about the topic.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Briefly discuss the following questions, without going too deep.
Q: What does it mean to be a "child of God"?
Q: Is everyone in the world a child of God, or is it a special privilege that certain people have?
Briefly, let's review what the Bible says about being a child of God.
READ John 1:11-13 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Q: Based on the passage that we read, what are the three things that are required in order to become a child of God?
If needed, discuss what it means to be born again:
READ John 3:1-17
Note:
We are born again when we look up to Jesus and believe in Him. Similarly, the Israelites looked up to the bronze serpent in order to save themselves from a snake bite.
READ John 3:14-15 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
Q: How can we be absolutely sure that we are a child of God?
READ Romans 8:16
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ...

9. Promise of a Way of Escape During Temptations
James 1:12-14 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
